"Revolution" Update

A new film celebrating the events of the 1911 revolution led by Sun Yat Sen is in the works. It is the 100th anniversary of the revolution next year and the film is being timed to have a release date in September 2011 to coincide with the celebrations.

Jackie has been appointed general director. He is also a co-producer on the movie with Li Bingbing. Zhang Li is the executive director.

Jaycee also has a part in the movie playing a Hubei officer in the Wuchang Uprising, one of the Huang Hua Gang 72 martyrs - Zhang Zhenwu.

Jackie Chan and Li Bingbing will play a couple in the upcoming historical film "The 1911 Revolution" ("Xin Hai Ge Ming"), Sina.com.cn reports.

Chan will play revolutionary pioneer Huang Xing, while Li will play his wife, Xu Zonghan.

It will be the second time Chan and Li have worked together following "The Forbidden Kingdom" ("Gong Fu Zhi Wang") in 2008.

Chan is also directing the new film as well as co-producing it with Li.

Shooting is expected to finish by September 2011, in time for the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution the following month.

The film is expected to feature a stellar cast of up to 70 star actors, several of whom are already confirmed, including Winston Chao, Sun Chun and Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan.

Huang Xing or Huang Hsing (traditional Chinese: 黃興; simplified Chinese: 黄兴; pinyin: Huáng Xīng; Wade-Giles: Huang Hsing; October 25, 1874 – October 31, 1916), Chinese revolutionary leader, militarist and statesman, was the first army commander-in-chief of the Republic of China. As one of the founders of the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Republic of China, his position was next to Sun Yat-sen. Together they were known as Sun-Huang during the Xinhai Revolution. He was also known as the "Eight Fingered General" because of wounds sustained during the war.
